How do I allow non-admin users to install printer driver software

ElevatedShortcut is a portable program and has separate version for Windows Vista and 7, and another for Windows 8 inside the zip file. Simply run the relevant executable and it will popup the main window where you have the choice of creating a new shortcut, modifying an existing shortcut or removing one you created previously.

I administer mobile users and am deploying Windows 7. For many reasons I don't want to make the users a member of the local administrators group. When they try to install a local printer they get a message that they need administrator right to preform the action. I've scoured the internet to find a solution. I've found articles on 'Point and Print Restrictions' and 'Allow non-administrators to install drivers for these devices setup classes' group policy settings. I've followed the instructions and still get the message administrator right are needed. Does anyone have a solution that works?

Markarsh hi. It may be as simple as right clicking, and select Run as Administrator. Then again, it might not be.

Start --> Administrative Tools --> Computer Management --> (Expand) System Tools --> (Expand) Local Users and Groups --> Choice or Click on Groups Folder --> (Right Click) Power Users --> Properties --> Add

Add all the users that you would like them to have permeation to install stuff on your computer, or our could be more creative and create a group and add the specific group to be allowed to install on your computer.
